Waking State Design was commissioned to design this hardbound book that chronicles the essays written by financier, Jonathan Raclin for the past 18 years. Excerpted from the cover:
“Margin Call is an edited collection of regularly published financial writings by Jonathan S. Raclin, over the years of 2006-2022. These writings focus primarily on the US financial market and the performance of Enterprise Portfolio, the fund managed by Raclin for Barrington Asset Management based in Chicago, IL. These newsletters were shared only with his clients. Interspersed with history, current events, movie references, and personal anecdotes, the book is an entertaining read, even for those whose don’t know the difference between a stock and a bond.
As an anthology of writing being read as a whole almost 18 years on, the contemporary nature of themes in political, world events and market responses is eerie. In the second essay from 2006, the matters of Middle East unrest that will just drag on and on and on, as well as hurricane devastation and rebuilding, echo current day conversations and concerns.
